Get ready to Deck the "walls!"

It's been a busy week in the world of photography!  Yay!!  From last minute Christmas card portraits, head shots, maternity, family, kids...you name it, I am enjoying every second this holiday season!

What a pleasure it was to take pictures of Heather & Mike's family!  They are a wonderful couple with incredible blessings!  Heather asked that I come by and take some pictures...I was thrilled because they have had so many fun milestones recently.  Her request was a picture in their new home (which is majorly gorgeous by the way) and extended family that arrived for a visit during her daughter's birthday!  And, M&H are expecting a wonderful little boy in January...mega excitement=lots of pictures to Deck the "walls!"

Here's a preview of our day together and be on the lookout for the best "out take ever!"  LOL!

Watch out for kisses!!

 Grandparents are the best!!!

I love red and tippy toes!!

Baby boy

I just can't help it...too funny!

These girls are absolutely beautiful!  What a fantastic family!!

As always, I like to thank my clients for making this job so much fun!  I had a blast at your home, Mike & Heather!  It was a pleasure spending the afternoon with your extended family and a joy to embrace creativity throughout your home. I look forward to meeting your new baby boy very soon!!  May you all have a very Merry Christmas!!

Seasonal Surprises! The Nutcracker...

This holiday season has been so enjoyable and full of surprises!  I received a phone call from an new friend inviting me to socialize with some ladies involved in Colorado Springs Junior League along with a photography request.  The event was hosting The Colorado Youth Ballet as they did a mini Nutcracker performance for the group.  I was delighted to watch young talent.  The venue was gorgeous as our car climbed up the hill to The Pinery.  Apparently, it used to be a fish restaurant that was fairly run down.  Over the past year or so, the venue was "flipped" and it is absolutely wonderful...catering to events and groups with a stellar view of the Springs.

The food and wine were fantastic.
 The women are wonderful...
 AND...The Nutcracker Performance was beautiful!!!

 Such talent and grace...

 A farewell photo...

Thank you for the invite, food, wine, and lovely performance.  This evening really made me get into the Christmas spirit!  Have a Merry Christmas and Happy 2014, ladies!!  God bless!

Double Trouble-Santa's watching you! :)

Hello Friends!

I hope this blog post finds you well as we are smack dab in the middle of the holiday season!  Is it really December?  Time is flying by!!  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and for the cherry on top of my pie, I met up with some of my lovely friends for a family photo session the next day.  Jen and I go way back to kindergarten days and it has been a treat for us to be closer to each other again.  This family is so much fun and they have two of the most beautiful, special girls on the planet!

We decided to try something a little different.  As a group, we ventured up the mountain to an amusement park called North Pole (Home of Santa's Workshop) for an early morning photo and fun day with kids/families!  It was so fun and nostalgic to be in the mountains bundled up.  Jen and Trevor are the greatest people, so the session was a blast for this girl!

Here are a few fun ones from the day:

All because two people fell in love...

 Not to be outdone...

Through a little bribery and lots of "Santa's watching you," we got a hug!!  Yay!!

Thank you Jen & Trevor!  I had a wonderful time and it is always great to see you!!  Until next time...Merry Christmas!!

Sibling Superheroes!

Last weekend was great!  I had the chance to see some family, enjoy the outdoors, and take lots of pictures too!!  I love this job! On a slightly blustery afternoon (chasing fall away), I was fortunate enough to work downtown to capture some urban photos with a new perspective...two brothers!!  It was a giant treat and surprise to photograph two brothers that look like they are ready for the world!  Sibling superheroes, perhaps?  :)

My oh my!  Get ready!!  These boys are too cute!!!

We started taking pictures by the train tracks, moved to the alleyways, and finished up with a creative graffiti backdrop!  I love when photo shoots allow you to wander and stumble on new ideas.  Even the youngest was ready to try some new places, however, in true boy form, taking pictures in clothing other than gym attire has it's limits.  LOL!  All jokes aside, they were great and I had a fun time hanging out with all of them...love their mom too!

Here's a peek of our adventure:

See?  I told you...they are ready for the world!  Thank you Mindy for asking me to take pictures of your adorable kids!!  Hope you all have a blessed weekend!

The Future is Bright!

Fall is in the air and it is time to beat the snow!!  The hour has come to capture memories with those gorgeous fall backdrops!  That was the case when I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful, bright senior named Paige!  She is adorable and such a bright light to her family and friends.  A month ago her mom contacted me to take her picture for her senior milestone.  I was delighted!

This day was so fun.  Paige has such a sweet spirit and I learned that deep down she is a warrior!  She loves the outdoors, running, and is a "hard core" mountain biker!  Her family is full of adventure and they say that she may just be the toughest out of all of them.  However, when you meet Paige, she is full of smiles and just lovely.  What a gem in the wonderful gem city!

We started the day off with taking some photos at the University and followed up with more pictures downtown to utilize urban backdrops & train tracks.  Lastly, we took a trip up to Vedauwoo to take advantage of fall colors, beautiful rocks, and aspen canopies as the Wyoming wind howled!!

Here is a sneak peak of the day!

Thank you, Paige (& Family) for such a fun day!  Your future is so bright and I can't wait to hear where college takes you!!  Have a blessed year!!  Big hugs!!

~Jodi

A Beautiful Pair

Hello & welcome back!  I have been on a bit of a break as my family and I made preparations to move to Colorado Springs!  Duty called once again and the answer was beautiful Colorado.  That being said, I must note that Nebraska will always hold a deep “sweet spot” in our lives and I am truly blessed with lifelong friendships and the memories that were created in that wonderful state.  J As boxes are being unpacked, I am already looking forward to the next chapter in Colorado and definitely utilizing the beautiful landscape/backdrop that is at our fingertips for many new memories and milestones!   Although, we will continue to visit Nebraska & Wyoming, so you don’t throw out that business card just yet… J

Okay, enough about our personal travels…I am dying to tell you all about a wedding that I photographed a few weeks ago!!  Last year, I was hired and blessed with the opportunity to shoot Stefanie & Dave’s wedding this August.  I seriously can’t believe a year has floated by and instead of talking about the details—it became reality.  They have made this experience special and comfortable with their down-to-earth personalities and incredibly sweet spirits.  Thank you both for making this so fun!

So let’s get to it!  These two lovebirds met and I learned that it was love at first sight.  Dave even commented to his brother that day that he “was going to marry that girl.”   His heart was set and the rest is in the photos…watch for it and you will see it too!J

Here’s how their special day unfolded…

Dave and Stefanie decided to have a wedding in Cheyenne over looking the lake at Lions Park.  I was able to take photos there during Christmas vacation for their engagement announcements and save the dates.  It was a perfect day and lots of snow.  What a treat to be back at the park in the summer next to the botanical gardens.  However, for those of you who live in the mountains, or Wyoming specifically, you know that wind and an afternoon thunderstorm is common.  Their wedding day was no different, but we all adapted and persevered.  The groomsmen were able to take some photos by the gardens and landscape near the community house.  Unfortunately, the weather turned a bit, so with the bridesmaids, we got creative and enjoyed the covered porch and overcast skies to get some pretty shots.  I have to give major props to Stefanie.  She was the calmest bride I have ever seen.  Smiling the entire time and incredibly sweet.  Her flexibility was admired and now the final product will tell the story of their surprising day.

When it was time for the ceremony, the winds picked up and raindrops began to fall.  Powering through it all, their day was blessed with a sunbreak and the ceremony was completed as planned.  Yay!!  Again, neither bride or groom waivered.  True awesomeness!!

Thankfully, we were able to move over and take advantage of the landscape around us after the ceremony before moving inside for the reception.  Once inside, it poured!!  Thank God for a perfect window of time!!

Here are the details!

Gettin' Ready...

So much laughter...

A great looking group of friends and family!

GORG.  The first word (sort of...LOL!) that comes to my mind to describe this couple that you are about to view!!  They are both just beautiful!

The party started and as you can see, it was a blast!  There were plenty of moments that touched everyone’s hearts and so many memories that will last a lifetime!  There are tons of pictures...it was tough to narrow it down!  Congratulations Dave & Stefanie!  May your marriage be blessed and filled with unconditional love!   From the looks of the picture above...the future is all yours!! Thanks again for including me (& my sidekick husband) in your special day!
