A Fantastic Family Foto!

Last month I had the privilege to take family portraits of Amy, Mike, and their sons, Troy, Dylan, and Tyson! The weather was very drizzly all day, but by the time their shoot rolled around, the rain let up a bit and gave us a couple of lovely hours!! As Mike prepares for a deployment, the family decided it was time to update the family photo album. I was truly honored when they asked me to help them create a memory. :) We started at the house, moved to a local park, and due to some wet grass, we compensated with an old army tarp...who knew my husband's stash would come in so handy?!

We tried to incorporate a little touch of military...lord knows, soldiers have lots of boots! :)

The love that exudes from this family just made this day so much more fun!!
The 411: Troy is working hard at Cross Country and high school and Dylan and Tyson are working hard at being a kids (or keeping their mom busy)!! :)

Hands down. My favorite.

Thank you so much for letting me share this moment with you all! What a wonderfully fun family!!!
Safe travels Mike and thank you all for your sacrifice.

The Future is Bright!

Today, we all woke up to some pretty drizzly and cold weather (45 degrees!). I think fall is in full swing! With that being said, I was extremely thankful to be able to carry on with a senior portrait this afternoon regardless of weather conditions...in fact, the cloudy weather made for a great picture day! It was great to get to know Jamie and his mom a little better. I love how this job allows for a deeper connection, inspiration, and creativity! Earlier this week, as we scheduled the appointment, I learned of Jamie's love for football, drill, and future goals. It is fun to reflect on this time of life where the world is waiting for you and the possibilities are just beginning!! The football team has a bright purple and gold jersey and the first thing that came to mind was Varsity Blues or Friday Night Lights with the midwest feel of Nebraska. I stumbled on an old white barn and asked the owners if they would let us use it as a backdrop...permission was granted! It was a fun day and thanks to Jamie and his mom for letting me try some new things! Wishing him the best as he finishes out football, drill, and begins so many firsts next year!

Great Smile!!!

Of course a country road truck picture was necessary!

Back in the Saddle Again!

So, let's just avoid the obvious and say, "it has been a while!!" This past year has been filled with so much activity that I have allowed the blog to take a back seat. At least, photography was right up in the driver's side of the car!! Website is updated, check. On the road to a blog update, check! What have you been up to this past year? I hope it has been full of fun, joy, and good health for you!

Unfortunately, I have not exactly been driving on the highway, more like sitting in a roller coaster car! Last summer our family moved from the DC area to Nebraska and have been pleasantly surprised with how pretty this part of the state is, the friendly people, activities, and community involvement. It's a little gem, actually! After moving here, an unfortunate tragedy plagued our family. Since then, we have been picking up the pieces and working on getting back into normal routines while looking forward to the new opportunities that await!

With respect to photography, it has been a blessing of a year! Doors have opened and I embraced every chance to make some memories! I joined an entrepreneurship group for business and if you need anything from a realtor, cookie baker, wine bar owner, event planner, banker, or interior decorator, I can point you in their direction! It has proved to be a very wonderful group of people! With a little networking, I have been photographing public and private events, newborn babies and families, and will continue to work on the corporate side of the house (advertising, etc.). It looks like fall is upon us, so senior portraits are in full swing! I can't wait! Reaching this milestone in life is rewarding in two ways. One, looking forward to a world of opportunity and passion! And two, looking back on the hard work and determination to get to graduation day! Embracing this change with some photographs is a great way to mark this milestone for many generations to come. If I can be of assistance to this special time, please contact me on my website: www.redumbrellaphotographyjs.com. I am more than happy to help and embrace the creativity! Thank you for stopping by today and I look forward to updating the blog more with some fun photos! Would love to hear from you anytime! Hugs, Jodi
